Jodie Marsh Donation

This auction is shaping up to be just a bit amazing!! Our latest addition is very exciting and came from the fabulous Jodie Marsh!

Stacey, my right hand lady was the one who made contact but had no idea this little beauty was coming! Infact when it arrived she assumed it was some make up she had ordered and she did open it straight away! When she did she very, very excitedly got on the phone to me!
She's fallen in love with the jogging bottoms herself so I suspect Stacey will be bidding on this item herself!

If you would like tickets and a chance to bid on the item, come and visit us on Twitter (@bras4cancer) or on our Facebook page here :-

Kiera-Jayne And Race For Life

It's half term and we have our beautiful Kiera -Jayne with us! It always feels like something is missing in our house when she's home with her Mum in Hastings, so it wonderful to have her here to make us feel complete! Her & I have done mostly the girly thing in the evening over the Easter weekend of eating chocolate, watching chick flicks, laughing (her and I like to laugh ALOT) followed by more chocolate!

She  is such a joy to be around and Always has been, I'm so lucky because I know people who don't get on with their step children but for me it was love at first sight! This amazing 5 year old walked into my life and if I'm honest changed me for the better! when Steve and I first got together we waited 6 months before I met her which I still think was very responsible of him and totally Steve all over! He is a fantastic Dad to both the kids and he always put them first over everything.

So Anyway, the day I met her we went to pick her up from her Mum in Hastings and I remember all the way there I felt sick! Not because I didn't want to meet her, not because I was some evil child hater but because I desperately wanted her to like me! You here all these step monster stories and that is never something I wanted to me! I took the responsibility of someone else letting me be around their child seriously (I still do) and I didn't want to mess it up! Once we arrived I was greeted warmly by Kiera's Mum and stood for a while chatting in her kitchen. The brilliant thing about Steve and Kiera's mum is there friends! They both moved on from the end of their relationship very early on and now they have a good friendship for the sake of Kiera. It works, it honestly does! They are both amazing parents who put there daughter first, something sadly not everyone does.

From there in walked this beautiful little girl with long dark hair,  big brown eyes and the spitting image of her Dad! Luckily for me, I'm one of life's talkers as anyone who knows me will tell you! So I chatted her little ears off and made her laugh. The car journey to Steve's mum's we chatted all the way and played I spy! When we arrived at my now Mother In Laws for the first time (a lot of pressure that weekend!) I was again so nervous! Seeing this Kiera took me by the hand and said "don't worry, I will look after you!"

The rest is history and she been looking after me ever since!

One of the things that makes Kiera so special is she is very good at being strong for other people especially the adults in her life. She is a very grown up 14 year old and sometimes I think we forget that really, she's still so young. Through the worst parts of my illness we hid that from her, she never saw me at my worst and I think we thought she didn't realise how bad it got. It's only now I relise that we were so wrong for thinking this.

So there we were chocolate, sofa, blanket and the movie Calendar Girls was on. Now, I had completely forgot about the cancer part to the film or perhaps I didn't pay as much attention to it before because last time I watched it cancer had not invaded our life at that point! Any how, we're watching and it showing the ladies husband during his chemo and in hospital, then unfortunately passing away. During this bit Kiera was uncharacteristically quiet and didn't take her eyes from the screen. "You ok babe?" I ask her "yep" she replies too quickly and not removing her eyes from the screen still. All of a sudden, I get it and I know she's remembering this time last year. I could of rushed to suggest we watch something else or Just turn it over, but I didn't. I didn't want to her to think she had to be strong infront of me, she's already done that enough! So instead we watched it and   then as the film got lighter so did kiera. I asked if some bits (she knew what bits) brought it back and she paused for a second, reading my face as if my current expression would effect her answer. Eventually she did answer and she replied sadly that yes, it did. I tried to laugh it off saying that I was sure I never looked that ill  but her gaze didn't move as she replied sadly  "sometimes you did Janine". At that very moment I suddenly revised that apart from the fact I was a terrible actress, this has effected her more than we ever knew. It actually breaks my heart all over again because i don't think we will ever know how much or what goes on in head about it all. The only thing we can hope for is that whatever it is she feels it will fade in time.

I love this kid, she is as much of a blessing to my life as my own son. I don't want to waste a minute of time I have to spend with her.

Last year Kiera ran the race for life in Portsmouth along with my family and friends as a surprise for me. I made a promise that day that I would do it this year with them. A promise is a promise, so I'm doing it and we're taking Mason along for the ride too in his push chair!

If any would like to sponsor us, Kiera & I have a just giving page which you can visit clicking on the following link :-

Boycie & Denzils Pants!

So after getting Sir David Jason's we were desperate to obtain some more "Only Fools" pants! What a result we had too! Within one week of each other we received Paul Barner (Denzil) and John Challis (boycie)!

Now Paul Barber's came first, after a couple of emails with his agent but John Challis took a bit more persuading from Stacey on Twitter! I can't blame John for being a little bit apprehensive at first because for all he knew, Stacey and I could of been a couple of weird stalkers asking for his underwear! It's quite a strange thing to request when you think of it and we have had some agents say no. For this reason every pair we get we are so grateful for!

Anyway! Here they are....

Please keep sharing us on Facebook & Twitter we need to raise as as much awareness as we can so we can raise as much money as we can!

A New Boob & Claireabella

Today was my much longed for appointment with the plastic surgeon to discuss the possibility of a new boob! I knew from the day they took my old boob (the one that caused all the trouble) that reconstruction was the route I would go down. Now, Some people are able to have reconstruction straight away but unfortunately I'm not one of those people. Because of the size of my tumour and the fact I had to have radiotherapy, I couldn't have a mastectomy and reconstruction at the same time.

I've come to accept my one boob state but I think because I know it's temporary this has helped! I would of let them cut off anything they liked if it would make be better but if I could have a new one in its place then why wouldn't I!

So off I went to meet with the surgeon. I was expecting to see the surgeon who had done my previous surgery but that turned out not to be the case. The new surgeon was nice enough and I'm sure highly qualified but I felt sad at the fact it wasn't my original surgeon. He didn't know me, I didn't know him and it was not as relaxed as my previous visits!

That aside, We went through my options, all of which I knew as I had googled these for months! I had already decided on the reconstruction using my own tissue (fat & skin from my stomach) rather than an implant. The surgeon agreed this was the best option although not the easiest. Recovery is long and I was advised It takes a year before I would be fully recovered. " I understand, but I still want it" I said. It was strange, it was like he was trying to talk me out of it but insisting it was the best type at the same time!

Anyway, so it's all been agreed and then he advised me about the waiting list...6 months! It's not unreasonable, it's quite normal because it is a major operation but it's not life threateningly needed surgery. I'm trying so hard not to be disappointed because at the end of the day it's not that important. This time last year I was very ill and scared I was going die. Now my biggest problem is I have to wait for a new boob?! I need a good slap, don't I! I'm still here and at the moment my health *touch wood* is so much better. As I've said before I'm lucky, so lucky!

So I came home ashamed as I am to admit it, a bit disheartened. However... This was short lived because we have received a brilliant addition today for our auction!! Only a pair of undies from the original queen of the Jute bags herself Claireabella!

Now I have always been a huge fan of Claireabella products and now I'm a huge fan of Claireabella herself! These days of course, she has a huge range and I am awaiting her onesies to come back in stock so I can live it it post surgery while I'm recovering!! If I've got to spend 5 days in hospital I've decided I'm going to do it in style! To View Claieabella's range, click on this link http://www.toxicfox.co.uk/claireabella

The Hayling Islander

I totally forgot I had agreed for them to write it and I hadn't actually spoke to the Hayling Islander directly! So when I received a message from my new friend (and right hand lady) Stacey last night I was just as surprised as her!

She hasn't received her copy yet and neither had I! So while my husband was sent on a late night mission to go and obtain one Stacey managed to get a photo sent by one of her friends who had!

More than anything if I honest I was nervous!  I've learnt that someone else telling your 'story' is not an easy thing to do. It's also very hard to read the last year if your life back when it was so horrendous. Although I can talk about it now without getting upset, reading it is another matter! However, I have to say I was happy with what has been written and if it helps raise money for Cancer Research UK and awareness then that's fabulous!

Thank you Hayling Islander for writing it so well and sensitively!
